For those driving, the main entrance is off Blossom Hill Road. If you’re coming from Highway 17 South, take the Lark Avenue exit and head east. Turn right onto Los Gatos Boulevard, followed by another right onto Blossom Hill Road. Pedestrians can use the walk-in entrances at Garden Hill Drive and University Avenue.
Activities to Indulge In
Vasona Lake County Park boasts 45 lush lawns perfect for leisurely activities like frisbee, softball, or soccer. Enjoy a picnic at various spots offering scenic views.
Water enthusiasts can rent paddle boats and rowboats from early spring till fall. Fishing enthusiasts can try their luck with the lake’s black bass, crappie, catfish, and bluegill.
The Youth Science Institute (YSI) is a gem at the park’s northern end. They offer engaging programs that blend science with nature appreciation—looking for a peaceful hike? The Los Gatos Creek trail is perfect for those keen on outdoor fitness. This 9.5-mile trail starts at Lexington Reservoir and winds through Los Gatos, Vasona Lake County Park, Los Gatos Creek County Park, and further into Campbell and San Jose.
Good news for pet owners! Dogs on leashes are welcome, but make sure you pick up after them. Handy disposable scoopers are provided.
The Los Gatos Creek County Park is midway on this trail, a sprawling 110-acre urban oasis. One of its ponds is stocked with rainbow trout from November to April, making it a fishing hotspot. Enjoy the waterfowl at other ponds but refrain from feeding them. For those into fly and plug casting, casting ponds are open daily. Note: No hooks or dogs are allowed in the casting areas. Stay alert in the “back cast” zone.
